UK Student Visas

In 2009, the United Kingdom changed immigration requirements that affect every student’s ability to enter and remain in the UK during an MSU study abroad program.  All participants in study abroad programs taking place in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) will need to prepare extensive documentation and make preparations far in advance of departure.  The information provided at this website was accurate as of the date it was produced.  While MSU seeks to provide students with updated information, the University is not responsible for changes in immigration requirements, fees, and processes or the approval / rejection of visa applications.  It is the responsibility of the student to obtain updated information, correctly fill out application materials, submit all required documents in the appropriate form to the correct authorities, and provide the necessary documents to immigration authorities upon arrival.  While parties external to MSU are welcome to use this information, we urge all users to take reasonable steps to verify that the information is up to date.

Below are two statements describing possible study abroad circumstances. In each statement is a link that will provide you with more information about the visa requirements for the type of program you are attending.

  • I am participating in a summer or winter break faculty-led program, a semester-long faculty-led program, the University of Cambridge International Summer School, or a semester-long co-sponsored program. Please visit the UK Student Visitor Visa information page.
